My Conversation With Ireland

What is it like to carry on a conversation with a country? In my first full length book I try to give you an idea through poetry, prose, and photography from the month I spent living in Ireland. I wrote, edited, and designed the entire book before self-publishing. Get it in print through Amazon today!

Tom’s Charge

During a family vacation to Montana, I became both fascinated and inspired by the history and culture of mining in the United States. In my first short story to be published, I took bits of what I learned and weaved them into what could have been any miner’s story. It is featured in the Summer 2018 issue of Plainsongs Magazine. Even The Daybreak

As an intern for Salmon Poetry in County Clare, Ireland, I copy edited the front matter of their 35th anniversary anthology, Even The Daybreak, ensuring all pagination, spelling, and grammar were consistent. More information about the 484-page anthology, which features works from 267 poets, can be found on the Salmon Poetry website.

Madge Vertner

As an intern for the Hastings College Press, I assisted in transitioning a story into novel for the first time. Taking the story of the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner chapter by chapter from an anti-slavery newspaper serialized from 1859-1860, I typeset Madge Vertner in Adobe InDesign, tracked and corrected inconsistencies, copy edited, and proofread the novel. Read the full description and order a copy from the Hastings College Press website.

Our Next-Door Neighbors

Also while interning for the Hastings College Press, I typeset, edited, and proofread Our Next Door Neighbors by Belle Maniates. Another member of Hastings College Press’s collection of lost and forgotten texts, this novel was originally published in 1917, and tells the story of a couple who enjoys a quiet life until a family of five chaotic children moves in next door. Read the full description and order a copy from the Hastings College Press website.

Every Small Town has a Guy like that: Observations of a Poet

As a freelance editor and book designer, I edited this collection of poems and illustrations before typesetting them into my own book design. The poems and correlating illustrations depict one man’s view of his small Nebraska town. Copies are now available on Amazon.
